Week Five Letter E Book List

Not much of a selection for this week!  I wanted to find 'Elmer' but it was checked out at our library.  Boo!  Oh well, this also marked the first week of our Fall unit, so we had plenty of Fall books to read.  I think I will just stick to our letter of the week book list for the blog though.  It gets to be a bit cumbersome otherwise.

  • The Eyes Game by Herve Tullet - This is a fun interactibe book, there are cutouts for eyes, so you can wear each page like a mask.  Great for recognition of the 'eyes'.
  • The Little Engine That Could by Watty Piper - We have the abridged board book edition, and sometimes E still has a bit of trouble sitting still for that long, so we only read this a few times.  I'm sure most people are familiar with the Little Engine that Could!
  • Who's that Eating? - I love realistic books, I think it's much easier to teach a toddler with realistic pictures than abstract pictures.  This book is perfect for making noises about eating for different animals, such as anteaters slurping, and squirrels nibbling.
  • Eating the Rainbow - Another realistic book.  This one shows different foods on each page grouped by color.  This was a great book for teaching colors with words and pictures that E already knows.
